Please list examples of how you are using Web 2.0 tools in your outreach efforts.

In conjuction with Health Education Department at PIMC we created a wiki for the San Lucy District of Tohono O'odham people. The wiki is titled O'odham Himdag, Way of LIfe and includes notices of planned health education events and health information. The URL is https://oodhamhimdag.pbwiki.com but at this time the wiki is private. Please contact me if you wish to see it. We created the wiki, in part, to address the requirements of Healthy People 2010 to increase Internet access among Native American peoples. If the wiki is successful at San Lucy we will offer it to other tribal communities within our area.

Recently I taught a class for the Student Health Advocates on campus. This is a group of students that provides services and community outreach to UCSD students and area schools about health topics. I only had thirty minutes with the group so the primary focus was on evaluating online health information. I created a del.icio.us account so that students can collect sites they they find useful and reliable for their presentations. I distributed bookmarks (see below) that included the URL, purpose of the site, and the username/password for the account to update it. I encouraged them to add and tag sites in the account and promote it to the groups they are working with as a place to begin research. The bookmark was created by Erik Matwijkow, Publications Coordinator at the UCSD Biomedical Library. (Posted by Dominique Turnbow)

Andrea Lynch (andlynch@library.ucla.edu) -- Andrea Lynch graduated from the masters program at the UCLA Graduate School of Library and Information Studies in June 2004. In her current position as Health and Life Sciences Librarian and Instruction Coordinator at the UCLA Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library, she is responsible for research, instruction, and collection development in the areas of dentistry, public health, and nursing as well as coordinating instructional sessions. She serves as a member of the Medical Library Association and Medical Library Group of Southern California and Arizona (MLGSCA), the chair of the MLGSCA Electronic Information Resources Committee in addition to being the Webmaster for this group.

Dominique Turnbow (dturnbow@library.ucsd.edu) -- Dominique Turnbow received her MLIS from UCLA in 2002. Since then she has worked in hospital and academic library settings. Currently, she is the Undergraduate Services Librarian at the UCSD Biomedical Library. She is primarily responsible for providing outreach and instructional services to students in the Division of Biological Sciences.
